Anthony Atkinson

Atkinson is part of the Future Leaders scheme at CBRE GWS and winner of the 2022 EG Tech Rising Star Award. Prior to joining CBRE, he studied at Oxford Brookes University and began work with Lambert Smith Hampton. He is involved in various charity initiatives, including acting as an ambassador for LandAid’s pro bono workstream – connecting property professionals with partner charities.

John Carter

Commercial director, Aldermore

Carter is commercial director for the commercial real estate team at Aldermore. He is responsible for developing new propositions and enhancing the customer journey to meet growing demand. He has 30 years’ experience in the industry, having previously worked in a number of national roles at Bank of Scotland, CYBG and NAB.

Simon Carter

Chief executive, British Land

Carter was appointed chief executive of British Land in November 2020. Previously CFO, he has been instrumental in shaping British Land’s strategy, strengthening the company’s financial position and driving the company’s ambitious sustainability and social agenda. Carter has extensive real estate and financial markets experience. Prior to becoming CFO of British Land, he was CFO of Logicor, the European logistics business. He joined Logicor from Quintain Estates & Development, where he was finance director during the sale of the business to LoneStar. Carter previously spent more than 10 years at British Land, working in a variety of financial and strategic roles. He was a member of the executive committee from 2012 until his departure in January 2015. He previously worked in fixed income at UBS and is a qualified chartered accountant.

Kathryn Cripps

Partner, Knight Frank

Cripps is a partner at Knight Frank. She joined Knight Frank in 2008 and works in its central London office agency department, specialising in the West End market. She is currently involved in a variety of disposal and development instructions across all West End submarkets, where she is acting as a key adviser to some of the industry’s most respected institutional landlords and developers. Current key instructions that fall outside of her Grosvenor remit include The Adelphi, 5 St James’s Square, 119 Farringdon Road and 20 Farringdon Street.

Pete Gladwell

Group social impact and investment director, Legal & General Capital

Gladwell joined Legal & General in 2007, launching a new generation of property funds focused on liability matching and defined contributions pension schemes, and L&G’s joint venture with PGGM, which total more than £5bn. In 2015, he moved to lead L&G’s investments with the public sector, including the cabinet office, local authorities, NHS, housing associations and universities – which now total more than £4.5bn. Gladwell holds an MA from Brasenose College, Oxford, in computation, the IMC, and is a fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts and honorary professor at UCL.

Michela Hancock

Managing director of development, Greystar

Hancock is a managing director of development for Greystar in the UK, where she is responsible for driving the company’s fully integrated development process. She oversees all project financing, amenity and unit planning, design, entitlements, construction and lease-up efforts on high-density multi-family developments. She is also targeting a pipeline of Greystar projects for London and helping educate the market and local government about the benefits of multi-family housing. Prior to joining Greystar in 2015, she served as development director for Grainger in the UK and as development manager for Bozzuto Development Company in the US. She is currently vice-chairman of the Urban Land Institute’s UK residential council, an active member of the British Property Federation’s build-to-rent committee, and a board member of the United Kingdom Apartment Association. 

Katie Jacobson

Partner (real estate), DLA Piper

Jacobson is a partner at DLA Piper. She works with institutional investors, developers, pension funds and corporate occupiers clients to manage their real estate portfolios. She advises on development projects, acquisitions and disposals and her clients operate across the retail, office and industrial sectors. Jacobson has a particular emphasis on investment transactions, mixed-use schemes and retail developments and has worked a number of high-profile transactions. She has a special interest in the use of technology to develop the way in which legal services are delivered. She works with a team to further innovate and develop DLA Piper’s existing products and strategy, and advises clients in this regard.

Shobi Khan

Chief executive, Canary Wharf Group

Khan is chief executive of Canary Wharf Group. He has worked in the real estate industry for more than 30 years and joined Canary Wharf Group in October 2019. Prior to his appointment, Khan was president and chief operating officer of General Growth Properties , a S&P 500 real estate investment trust specialising in retail property. He joined in 2011 and was promoted to the role of president in December 2016. Between 2008 and 2011, he was US chief investment officer and Partner at Bentall Kennedy, the global real estate investment adviser. Earlier in his career, he served as senior vice-president of investments at Equity Office Properties Trust (a S&P REIT), where he helped complete more than $20bn of global property and merger and acquisition transactions at EOP. He held direct responsibility for all US investment activity and served on the company’s management group and investment committees. He led the underwriting of $16bn in office REIT mergers involving Beacon, Cornerstone and Spieker, among others. He was involved with the company’s $39bn sale to Blackstone in 2007.

Vivienne King

Founder and managing director, Impactful Places

King has held leadership positions in real estate for more than 30 years, working across investment development, regeneration and management, joint venture partnerships, strategy development and ESG. She is founder and managing director at Impactful Places and also head of real estate social impact at Good Economy, the UK’s leading independent social impact advisory firm. King’s NED roles include the Greater London Authority’s Property X-Change, where she is its ambassador focusing on regenerating London’s high street communities, chair of the shopkeepers’ campaign for business rates reform and Revo operating board member.

Charles Maudsley

Principal, Alma Real Estate Consultancy

Maudsley is principal at Alma Real Estate Consultancy and strategic real Estate adviser to Bridgepoint Group. He also advises Ringley Group and various banks and Investors on real estate strategies. He is a non-executive director and board nember of Federated Hermes PUT. From 2010-19 he was the main board director for British Land, with responsibility for the retail and residential portfolios. Prior to this, Maudsley was co-head of LaSalle IM Europe and board member of the Global IM business. This followed a role as head of real estate for AXA UK.

Keval Pankhania FRICS

Managing director, Sneller Commercial

Pankhania is the managing director of Sneller Commercial. Snellers provides expert advice across a range of property services including valuation, agency, asset management, lease consultancy, project management, building surveying, development consultancy and investment. Alongside the day-to-day running of the business, Pankhania is responsible for business development across the firm and, more specifically, advising clients on a variety of building surveying/project management Instructions. He specialises in advising landlords and tenants on dilapidations/exit strategies and refurbishment/alteration projects on all property types.

Sarah Ratcliffe

Chief executive officer, Better Buildings Partnership

Ratcliffe has more than 20 years’ experience working in the property sector on sustainability issues. She is chief executive of the Better Buildings Partnership, a collaboration of the UK’s leading commercial property owners who aim to deliver market transformation through sustainability leadership and knowledge sharing across the property industry. Ratcliffe has contributed to a wide range of industry initiatives and task forces and is currently serving as a member of the Green Property Alliance, the Investment Property Forum ESG committee and EG investment advisory board, and is also board director of the Sustainable Development Foundation, non-executive of Evora Global and a strategic adviser to Property Market Analysis.

Richard Rees

Managing director, Savills (UK)

Rees is managing director at Savills and head of national development services. He has more than 25 years’ experience in the development, funding and agency markets. Rees specialises in major development projects providing consultancy, agency and strategic advice across both the residential and commercial sectors, with specific expertise in joint ventures and restructuring financial models.

Tali Robinson

Managing director, communications, SEC Newgate UK

Robinson is managing director on the property team at SEC Newgate. She has more than 20 years’ experience in corporate communications and reputation management. She was previously head of real estate and a board director at Infinite Global and has led award-winning campaigns for some of the biggest names in property and construction, international professional services firms, global funds and asset managers, and tech and real estate advisory companies. Robinson specialises in strategic communications, brand-altering media and content campaigns and reputation management, and advises clients on crises, mergers and internal changes. She sits on the PROPS committee and the real estate arm of children’s charity Variety.

Zoe Sharpe

Senior development manager, Dandara Living

Sharpe is a senior development manager in Dandara Living’s build-to-rent division. In the past 30 years, the group has delivered more than 22,000 homes and 1.7m sq ft of commercial space in the UK. A qualified solicitor and a chartered surveyor, Sharpe has more than 15 years’ experience in the real estate and development industry. She has worked for a private property company with a circa £100m regional commercial property portfolio and a private property development company delivering its first UK mixed-use scheme – an urban neighbourhood in Bristol. Sharpe was also part of the second cohort of the EG Future Female Leaders programme, where she spoke about a possible solution for alleviating the impending shortage of construction workers in the UK.

Zaman Sheikh

Surveyor, Babergh & Mid Suffolk District Council

Sheikh was one of EG’s Future Leaders, and is a young surveyor working for Babergh & Mid Suffolk district Council. He is currently working towards dual qualification as a chartered surveyor and a licensed conveyancer. He has passionate about creating a more accessible and diverse property industry for all.

David Sleath

Chief executive, SEGRO

Sleath was appointed chief executive of SEGRO in April 2011, having been finance director since 1 January, 2006. Previously, he was finance director of Wagon, the international automotive engineering group, from 1999 to 2005. From 1982 to 1999 he worked for Arthur Andersen, latterly as a partner and head of audit and assurance for the Midlands. He is currently president and a board member of the British Property Federation, and a board member of the European Public Real Estate Association.

Suzan Ucmaklioglu

Architect, Foster + Partners

Ucmaklioglu is an architect with experience in high-profile development projects with inclusive design at the forefront. She joined Foster + Partners in 2020 and is active on international projects. Prior to this she worked with Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners and Grimshaw. Her project highlights include the Hammersmith & Fulham town hall redevelopment, the Northern Line extension to Battersea Station, the International Quarter London and Melbourne Metro – North Melbourne Station. An associate lecturer at the University of the West of England, she brings inclusivity to the forefront of all design conversations; pushing design through the act of physical fabrication and collaborative experimentation. Ucmaklioglu was also part of the 2020 EG Future Leaders programme.

Melanie Williams

Partner, DWF

Williams is the head of DWF’s global real estate sector group and has more than 20 years’ experience of advising on the investment and funding of real estate development projects.

With a reputation as the go-to adviser for property work in the hospitality sector, she also leads the firm’s hospitality sector group and has a wealth of expertise in the acquisition of hotels, development and refurbishment projects, and real estate finance. She has vast experience of handling asset management work for investors, developers and banks, as well as dealing with landlord and tenant matters.

Williams sits on the board of directors of the Colmore Business District BID, working with key business and community leaders to encourage investment in projects and services which improve the Birmingham business environment. She also sits on the board of directors for Citysave Credit Union.

John Woodman

Chairman, Hollis

Woodman is the chairman at Hollis. He joined the company in 1991 and became senior partner in 1994. The business incorporated and became an EOT last year and Hollis is now a director. His focus is on three key areas of the business: driving the creation and delivery of the firm’s overall aims and objectives; leading the director group; and developing relationships with new and existing clients. Beyond Hollis, Woodman is an active member of the wider property industry, particularly with the Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors where he is the immediate past master and sits on the Court of the Company. He was the first chairman of the Building Surveying Faculty of the RICS. He is a BPF and IPF member, and a keen supporter of LandAid.

Alexandra Woolmore

Planning director, Argent

After several years working in the City as a planning lawyer, Woolmore joined Related Argent in 2008, where she now heads up the in-house planning team. She has extensive experience working on complex regeneration schemes, navigating the planning process from the early masterplanning stage through to completion. She has successfully managed applications at King’s Cross for more than 7m sq ft of mixed-use floor space and obtained planning permission for a new district centre at Tottenham Hale, comprising 1,000 homes, commercial uses and public spaces. Woolmore has a particular interest in education and has been heavily involved in developing and delivering the educational offer at both King’s Cross and Brent Cross. She is currently a governor at the King’s Cross Academy, and is also a board member of Poplar Harca.
