Life changed dramatically for all of us in 2020. It certainly did for the EG Awards. Big plans to deliver the best award ceremony, celebrating the very best in our business, soon became big plans to deliver that same experience – as best we could – virtually. We hope you’ll agree that we did a pretty good job but we are still focused on bringing the EG Awards back to its in real life glory.
2020 was so last year, 2021 is all about new horizons, about looking to the future, about celebrating what matters. About being together.
So EG is proud to be bringing the EG Awards back to the physical stage. And we will be stepping into a bright future. Again we’ll be asking you to dress to impress but to ditch the black tie – unless you really love it – and we will be doing all that we can to make sure we keep our carbon footprint as low as possible.
Just like the last time we all gathered at The Grosvenor House hotel, all printed materials will be on recycled paper, we’ll be providing just as many non-alcoholic beverages as boozy ones, we’ll be asking you to come as you, your own wonderful self, and this year, in an extra step to make sure we are doing our bit to help save this planet, dinner will be vegetarian by default, unless you select the meaty option.
Just like every year, the EG Awards seeks to crown the very best businesses in the UK and beyond. We will be celebrating the advisers, investors and developers that can demonstrate a track record of innovation, long-term thinking and future proofing, and will be lifting up those individuals and companies that are giving back, are putting people first, or who have refused to give up the fight in the most unusual year the world has ever seen. There are a couple of new awards this year too. We’re taking time to celebrate the very best of our cities, the great work that public and private partnerships can deliver and this year’s special award is for that business or individual that found away out of the turmoil brought about by Covid and refreshed and renewed their business.
I, for one, can’t wait to be back in my light-up gold high tops, standing in front of a group of placemakers, changemakers and careermakers, with a big smile on my face as together we celebrate the shining future of real estate.

EG is proud to be raising money this year for Refuge. It believes no one should have to live in fear of violence and abuse. On any given day, Refuge supports more than 7,000 clients, helping them rebuild their lives and overcome many different forms of violence and abuse; for example domestic violence, sexual violence, so-called “honour”-based violence, human trafficking and modern slavery, and female genital mutilation. https://www.refuge.org.uk/
