Last month, the prime minister Boris Johnson announced a new initiative branded ‘Project Speed’.

The dramatic new development measures allow vacant commercial buildings to be purchased and converted to residential use without planning permission.

Dubbed by Downing Street as ‘the most radical reforms to our planning system since the Second World War’, the government has said the changes will come into effect by September, with planning policies released later this month.
